01 — Who we are

Motion Electric

An African electric mobility start-up.

MOT-E designs electric vehicles for the way Africa moves: through cities, across farms and parks, and out into open country. We start from the roads, loads and distances people here deal with every day, and design the vehicle around them.

What drives us

Two passions, one vehicle.

Mobility

Getting people, goods and work moving on electric power, whether the road is tarmac, murram or nothing at all.

Design

Vehicles people are proud to own: honest hardware, a clear identity and details that each do a job.

Equinoxia

02 — Our first model

Concept 01, designed by DLL Studios

The name

Named after the equinox.

Twice a year the sun passes directly over the equator, and day and night run to roughly the same length everywhere on Earth. Kenya sits on that line.

Equinoxia is named for that moment of balance: equal parts work and play, city and wild. As MOT-E's first model, it sets the direction for everything we build next.

The idea

Half side-by-side. Half micro car.

Think Can-Am Defender

Side-by-side

Payload, ground clearance and the toughness to work off-road all day.

Think Citroën Ami

Micro car

Small, simple and electric. Easy to park, charge and live with every day.

= Equinoxia. A compact electric utility vehicle with a closed two-seat cabin, built to work hard during the week and go anywhere at the weekend.

03 — What it's for

Built for work and the wild.

In the city

Small enough for city traffic.

A compact footprint for crowded streets and tight parking, with CCS2 fast charging at the kerb.

Everyday life

The weekly shop. The weekend off.

A cargo box and bed for the market run, and a quiet electric ride out to the park after.

A couple having a picnic on the grass beside the parked Equinoxia

On the farm

Works the farm.

All-terrain tyres, recovery hooks and a bed for tools, feed and produce. Quiet enough to work around livestock.

Two rangers with the Equinoxia on the savannah, one scanning a herd of zebra through binoculars

Patrol & conservation

Silent on patrol.

Electric drive lets rangers cover ground without disturbing the wildlife they protect.

Where Equinoxia works

One vehicle. Ten jobs.

Wherever a side-by-side is too raw and a car is too big, Equinoxia fits.

01

Adventure & overlanding

Roof carrier, spare and recovery hooks as standard

02

Conservancies & rangers

Anti-poaching and ranger patrols in silence

03

Farm life

Feed, tools and produce across the farm, quietly

04

Factories & industrial sites

People and parts around large compounds

05

Military & patrol

Compact and quiet for perimeter and base patrol

06

Mining & construction

Crew and kit transport across rough sites

07

Urban utility

Small footprint, trunk bed, CCS2 charging

08

Campuses & estates

Security, maintenance and shuttle runs

09

Resorts & lodges

Guest transfers and game-drive support without engine noise

10

Film, events & expeditions

Crew and gear where vans can't go

Engineering

Built on a steel space frame.

Simple, repairable hardware: a tube frame, a battery in the floor and one motor at the back. Keep scrolling to see through the body.

01

Space frame

Welded steel tube chassis with an integrated roll cage around the cabin.

02

Floor battery

A flat pack in the floor between the axles keeps weight low and inside the frame, with 22 cm of clearance underneath.

03

Rear motor

A 150 hp electric motor at the rear axle drives the rear wheels. Weight low, drive at the back.

Concept target, to be confirmed through prototype testing.

04

Suspension

Coil-over shocks at each corner on all-terrain tyres, with recovery hooks front and rear.

Layout

Weight low. Drive at the back.

Battery between the axles, motor over the rear axle, cabin and cargo bed above. Frame in silver, battery in gold, motor in orange.

DLL Studios

Equinoxia was designed by Kennedy Mutua at DLL Studios. The studio took it from first idea to a complete 3D model: exterior, interior, materials, engineering layout and the MOT-E identity.
